BENJAMIN EARL HUNTER & OLIVE BERTINA STROUT/HUNTER (left-below)

Benjamin Earl Hunter is the son of William Long Hunter and Cora Edna Thing/Hunter he had 7 brothers and sisters  one of his Uncles was Samuel Wesley Hunter and some of the 1/2 brothers to Sam were (bens aunts and uncles) Mary Ellen Wethern & my great Grandpa George Edward Hunter & Isabell McKeen...Benjamin was married to Olive Strout Feb. 24, 1916 in Hudson WI... They had 2 children Edna and William Lincoln  (Bev's Father)....

Benjamin Earl is the son of Willaim Long Hunter who is the brother of Samuel Wesley (obit is on this page) and the 1/2 brother to Isabell, Henry Harrison, Mary Ellen & Alice Anna all have obits on this page Benjamin Earl is the nephew to them all.... 

Bev, Judy Phillips and Linda are all related through William Long and cora Edna Hunter They are all people who I have been in contact with over the years sharing info with...

OBITUARIES OF EDWARD AND ALICE ANNA MCCUSKER (below)

Pierce County Hearld - March 15, 1934 (written below)

Mrs Ed McCusker, 70 a lifelong resident of Diamond Bluff Township, died Friday night at a Red Wing Hospital; death resulting from complications. She had been in failing health for the past four years and was confined to her bed for several months past.  Deceased was born in Diamond Bluff twp. in 1864 and had made her home there ever since. She was married to Edward McCusker in Oct. 1883, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1931.  Three children also preceded her to the grave.  Surviving are seven children Perley of Rontier, MN, Charles and Le and Mrs. P. N. Peterson of Red Wing.  Mrs, Ed Besker, Mrs Stirl Baker and Guy McCusker of Diamond Bluff, 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters Mrs. F McKeen of Frontier and Mrs. Alfred Wethern of Clam Falls, two brothers Charles Hunter of Clam Falls and Alle Hunter of Comer and one Half brother Sam Hunter of Hager City.  Funeral services took place Tuesday morning from St. Joseph's  Church at Prescott and interment was at that city.

**Alice Anna Hunter/Mccusker was the twin sister of Mary Ellen Hunter/Wethern (obit on this page) and the daughter of John Blair & Nancy Ann Hunter.... she is also the sister to Henry Harrison and Isabell both have obits on this page also...

Edward McCusker

Edward McCusker, well known and highly respected resident of Diamond Bluff, WI for the past 69 years, passed on at the home of his daughter Mrs. Edward Beskar, in Diamond Bluff Sunday afternoon at 5 o'oclock.  Mr. McCusker had been failing in health for the past year, but was confined to his bed for only the past week.   Death resulted from infirmities of age.  Born in Tamworth, Ontario, Canada May 14, 1858, Mr. McCusker was 73 years of age at the time of his death.  He came to the United States with his parents when he was a small boy and settled on a farm near Diamond Bluff and has lived in that vicinity ever since.  He was married Octover 24, 1882.  He is survived by his wife and seven children, P. P. McCusker of Frontier, Minn. Mrs. Ed Beskar, Mrs. Stirl Baker and Guy McCusker of Diamond Bluff, Mrs. P.N. Peterson, Charles McCusker and Lee McCusker all of Red Wing.  Four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Peter Floody and Mrs. Wm. Buck of Ellsworth, Mrs. P. Laughman of Deer Park, Wis. Mrs. Thos. Flynn of Hager, Wm. McCusker of Ellsworth and Thos. McCusker of Diamond Bluff and 12 grandchildren also survive.   Services were conducted Wednesday morning at 10 O'clock from St. Mary's church at Prescott of which he was a fairthful member.  Interment was made at the Calvary cemetery in Prescott.

River Falls Journal   April 10, 1947 (written below)  

Samuel Edward Hunter Died Tuesday, April 8th....Samuel Edward Hunter, aged 87, passed away Tuesday evening, April 8, 1947, at the city Hospital.  Funeral services were held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Davis McLaughlin Funeral Home.   Mr. Hunter has made his home for the past several years with his daughter, Mrs. Victor Johnson, of the town of River Falls.   He also leaves two sons, Sam Jr. of Bay City, and John of the state of Washington, and one daughter Mrs. Bert Lonsdorf of Chippewa Falls.  Interment was in the Catholic Cemetery south of the city.

**Samuel is Samuel Wesley Hunter the youngest son of John Blair and Rebecca Jane Hunter, and brother of William Long Hunter and 1/2 brother to Isabell, Henry Harrison, Mary Ellen & Alice Anna.....          

2 OBITUARIES FOR JOHN BLAIR HUNTER (below)

1st      Burnett County Sentinel     Thursday March 8, 1900

          Coomer    John Hunter died Feb. 21st and buried Feb. 24, 1900.  He was 78 years 11 mo. and 21 days.  He leaves an aged wife and 13 children to mourn his loss.  Rev. Pickle conducted the burial services.  Everybody misses him.

2nd    Balsam Lake Ledger         Thursday  March 8, 1900

         Loraine:    Died John Hunter of Coomer, aged 78 yrs. 11 mo. 16 days (different from statement above).  He died of dropsy Feb. 21.   The deceased leaves a wife and 13 children and other relatives to mourn his loss.

**John Blair Hunter is my Great Great Grandpa (as he is to most all those I have contact with for Hunter info) he is the father to most of the people on this page, Henry Harrison, Isabell, Samuel W., Mary Ellen, Alice Anna....he is Grandfather to Benjamin and Ed C. and father-in-law to Cora Edna Thing/Hunter, Milton McKeen, & Ed McCusker....John Blair is the son of Samuel and Agnes Hunter....

Cora Edna Thing/Hunter was the wife of William Long Hunter (her obit to the left) her parents were Willard Thing & Anna Parker.   She had  8 children with William, according she was only 48 when she died.... she lived in Beldenville with her parents as a child and services for her were held at the Baptist church there in the same town... One of the Obituaries stated se was an "estimable lady" & an "excellent mother"  she died May 14, 1902.... (at the left)

 

Henry Harrison Hunter was another child of John Blair and Nancy "Annie" Hunter  he was married to Flora A. Atkinson and together they had 6 children one of them was Glenn Leroy their youngest  child, and this son was the father to Helen Hunters husband Ned Hunter and Ned was my fathers cousin & Helen & I exchanged emails and info for awhile... Mrs. Isabell Mckeen (typed out below)

Mrs. Isabell Mckeen was born at Diamond Bluff June 12,1866, and lived there most of her life until 15 years ago when she moved with her family to Frontenac, Minn.  In January 1883 she married Milton Alexander McKeen. Mr. and Mrs. McKeen celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at the home of their son in Frontenac in 1933.  Mrs. McKeen attended the Methodist Episcopal Church during her lifetime in Diamond Bluff and shared in the joys and responsibilities & neighborly activities. Her husband preceeded her in death in November 1936. She was living at the home of her daughter in Spring Valley when she died Wednesday morning, Sept. 14, 1938.   She is survived by two daughters Mrs Myrtle Witt of Spring Valley and Mrs. Grace Kent of Anoka Minn. Three sons Ralph and Roy of Frontenac Minn. and 4 brothers Haas, Alley, & Ted Hunter of Clam Falls and Sam Hunter of Blendenville; also 4 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren.  Services were held at the Methodist Episcopa church frontinac Sept 16, with burial at the Diamond Bluff Cemetery.  Rev. Milford of Spring Valley officiating. Music was furnished by M. Lawrence Bahr, Frank Garfield and Rev. Milford.  (there was some thank yous given but I could not read them in the article.)        

The obituary to the left is of her husband Milton McKeen....    Isabell was the daughter of John Blair Hunter and Nancy "Annie" Goggins/Murphy/Hunter, and sister of Mary Ellen Hunter/McCusker and 1/2 sister of William Long Hunter, she had a total of 5 other full brothers and sisters and a total of 7 1/2 brothers and sisters, John and Rebecca Jane Malott/Hunters children.....
